After having won a large sum in cards, he settles in for the night in a shabby inn in a remote Russian town. Here, three other gamblers soon recognize him as a card shark. They win his confidence and together the four of them set up a plot to do a supposed con job on another resident. In the end, however, Ikaref ends up losing his entire win.
